“Jubilee of Acoustic Music Festival” --- May 30 & 31, 2008

The 2008 Jubilee of Acoustic Music Festival brings together some of the Midwest’s finest entertainers, instructors and musicians for two days of Traditional Acoustic Music at the Metropolitan Community College - Longview campus, located just
off I-470 in Lee’s Summit, MO. There will be Concerts on the main stage Friday night at 7:30pm, Noon Saturday and 7:30pm Saturday night. This year 17 different artists are featured playing a variety of instruments and encompassing various styles of acoustic music including folk, blue grass old time fiddle and Celtic.

The festival also features Instructional Workshops starting at Noon on Friday,
May 30th until 4:30pm and from 9:00am until 4:30pm on Saturday, May 31st. The workshops cover novice, beginner, intermediate and advanced levels of instruction on guitar, fiddle, hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, autoharp, mandolin, banjo, penny whistle and Irish flute. There will be “Free to the Public” workshops on Friday night from 6 - 7 pm for hammered dulcimer, mountain dulcimer, guitar, fiddle and lap harp. Instruments will be provided for the hammered dulcimer and harp workshops.

The Friday Night Concert stage lights up with a Concert starting at 7:30pm featuring Dana Hamilton and his humorous take on making music, the Celtic band DogTree and local Guitarist Cindy Egger-Farris, followed by a jam session hosted at
JP Coffee. The Saturday Night Concert will start off with Butch Ross and Christie Burns – a husband and wife team of mountain and hammered dulcimer players with more energy than a power company. The evening is rounded out with a set
by the Chicago folk duo of Rich Prezioso and Jacquie Manning, aka – “Small Potatoes” performing a variety of songs from “Cowboy to Celtic”. Another jam session hosted at JP Coffee after the concert will conclude the festival events.
